The US military said it carried out a strike on a vessel in the Eastern Pacific on Tuesday, killing five people on board. US Southern Command said the vessel was a go-fast boat travelling on known drug-trafficking routes and that intelligence confirmed it was involved in drug trafficking. President Donald Trump's administration says the strikes since September 2025 target drug traffickers, but human rights groups have called them unlawful killings. More than 230 people have now been killed in the strikes on vessels in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific.
