'That's not your job': McCarthy criticises referee's controversial stand-up at UFC Vegas 123

Key points

  • Veteran referee John McCarthy has criticised referee Dan Miragliotta's controversial stand-up during a fight at UFC Vegas 123, saying that intervening in that way was not the referee's job.
  • The decision split opinion among fans and fighters, with McCarthy arguing that officials should let the action play out rather than stepping in.
  • The debate has added to the talking points from the Las Vegas event.
