Moldova holds top security meeting over giant cyberattack

Key points

  • Moldova has convened a meeting of its National Security Council over a major cyberattack on government information systems, the presidency said on Wednesday.
  • Officials warned that the main risk from the attack is the use of stolen data in attempted fraud and online manipulation.
  • The meeting comes amid heightened concern in Europe about cyberattacks on state systems, and Moldova's authorities are assessing the scale of the breach and what data may have been exposed.
