Canada and the United Arab Emirates signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in Ottawa on 27 October, alongside a new Strategic Partnership covering economic ties, energy, technology, education, defence and diplomacy. Once fully in force, expected in 2027, the deal will reduce or remove tariffs on more than 99 percent of current Canadian exports to the UAE, helping pulse and canola growers, machinery, power-equipment and aerospace firms. The pact was negotiated in a record 47 days and is part of Prime Minister Mark Carney's push to double Canadian exports to markets beyond the United States over the next decade.
