South Korea has finished developing its own marine attack helicopter, built for amphibious operations by the country's marines. The aircraft, based on the Marineon utility helicopter, carries a turret machine gun, guided and unguided rockets, and air-to-ground missiles, and can also take on enemy helicopters and drones. The 450-billion-won project began in 2022, passed a combat suitability test in July and won airworthiness certification in August. The arms agency plans to start building about 20 of the helicopters next year.
