Microsoft has offered voluntary buyouts to about 60,000 employees, more than a quarter of its global workforce, as it trims costs while spending heavily on artificial intelligence. Eligible staff at level 70 and below in the United States, Canada, India and Britain, in teams including Xbox, Windows, Copilot, AI experiences, finance and human resources, can take the time-limited offer with financial support and career planning. Marketing, commercial business and security teams are excluded. The company had 223,000 employees at the end of June and has forecast 175 billion dollars in capital spending for 2026.
