Michael Douglas has given a rare update on his longtime friend Jack Nicholson, saying the 89-year-old actor has effectively disappeared from Hollywood. Speaking in Swansea, Wales, while promoting his memoir One Helluva Ride, the 82-year-old said he would have liked to have acted with Nicholson, but added: "He's not working any more. He's well. He has disappeared." Douglas said he still sees Nicholson, who lives quietly at home, and that he deserves the break. Nicholson has not made a film since How Do You Know in 2010 and has never announced a retirement, though he briefly appeared at the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary show in February 2025.
