The federal government has approved Karachi Industrial Park as a federal Special Economic Zone to attract export-oriented industrial investment, promote technology transfer and create jobs. The decision was taken at the 11th meeting of the Board of Approvals for Special Economic Zones, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. The board also approved a framework for government-funded utilities for private zones and a new land lease policy for public-sector industrial estates in Punjab.
